Awesome Autumn Trends for Kids’ Bedrooms
Are you thinking about updating your home this autumn?
With crunchy leaves, cosy fires and everything pumpkin spice taking over, you might feel inspired to bring the warming colours of autumn into your living space – including in the kid’s room. You might also be wondering, what’s ‘hot’ in the world of kid’s interior design this autumn?
As kid’s bed and interior experts, we’re here to tell you exactly that. Read on to ‘fall’ in love with our awesome autumn trends for kid’s bedrooms.
1. Beige Beauty
Beige has officially replaced grey as the neutral of choice, thanks to its warmer, softer look that goes with almost anything.
This natural aesthetic is particularly popular among millennial parents who favour the Scandinavian style – leading TrendBible to dub the décor trend as the ‘beigification’ of nurseries and kid’s rooms.
To bring the trend into your child’s room this autumn, paint walls beige or sand, add a cream rug and choose kid’s furniture with honey-coloured wood. Our Ava High Sleeper is the perfect stylish and practical beige bed for your little one.
2. Country Pumpkin
Autumn is synonymous with the countryside – it’s where you’ll find the most golden trees, pumpkin patches, and country pubs to cosy up in.
In a new take on the cottage-core trend, bring the country look into your child’s room this autumn with a cottage-style house bed. Our Vipack Kids Country House Bed is a great example, coming complete with windows and a pretty scalloped roof.
Accessorise the rest of the room with autumnal tones, such as burnt orange and moss green, and hang gingham bunting to complete the traditional look.
3. Scandi Storage
As well as Halloween, hot chocolate and fireworks, Autumn is also the season of Christmas preparation.
Now’s the perfect time to add more storage to your kid’s bedroom, so you’re ready for the festive chaos.
The Scandi trend continues to dominate this area of kid’s interior design too, and light wood shelving units such as our Vox Retro Bookcase are an up-to-the-minute addition to your home organisation.
4. Into the Blue
Of course, certain colours will always be ‘in’ in autumn. Red, orange, gold and olive green perfectly epitomise the season and will never go out of style.
However, if you’re looking for something a little different, you might be happy to hear that blue is one of the biggest trending colours this season. Bring an autumnal colour scheme in your child’s room up to date by adding splashes of bright teal and cobalt, which will contrast perfectly with orange and gold shades.
Pair with dark wood furniture and abstract patterns to tap into the retro 70s trend too.
5. Work Smarter
Autumn is the season of a new school year and a fresh start.
As we settle into the new term – and our young students begin to come home with reams of homework – many of us will look to adapt the kid’s bedroom to accommodate a study area.
In smaller rooms with no space for a permanent desk, this can be easier said than done. That’s why clever single beds like our Bailey Cabin Bed with Pull-Out Desk will surge in popularity – you can slide the desk out when it’s required and easily pack it away again when you need space for other activities.
6. Cosy Corner
As pressures from school increase throughout the season, creating a cocoon or cosy corner where kids can relax and de-stress from their day is a key trend in kids’ autumn interiors.
Teddy and bouclé fabrics are surging in popularity, thanks to their cosy texture and tactile feel. It’s impossible to resist touching them (we’ve tried!)
Soft yet durable, our Extreme Lounging Mini B Teddy Bean Bag is the perfect place for your little one to chill out and unwind before bed – and it comes in stunning autumnal shades, including mink and heather.
7. Hell for Leather
Another autumn kid’s interior trend is adding rustic, natural touches to your child’s bedroom. This could be in the form of wooden benches, dried grasses, or, one of our personal favourites, leather (or faux leather!) handles.
Replacing handles with leather options is an easy way to give your kid’s furniture a new lease of life for the new season. They pair particularly well with pastel pink, orange and beige shades, adding welcome ruggedness.
Our Aviary Bunk Bed has faux leather handles on the included storage drawers. The built-in shelving alongside both beds is also the perfect place to display a plant or autumnal foliage.
8. Sustainable Sleeping
Finally, as we become more environmentally conscious and aware of our impact on the planet, sustainability is at the forefront of interior design and a key consideration for parents decorating their child’s bedroom.
There are many ways to incorporate eco-friendly design into a kid’s room. You can look for sustainable materials such as bamboo, choose companies that offset carbon or plant trees (like us!), and select furniture with longevity so you won’t need to replace it as often.
Lifetime beds are made from FSC-certified sustainable pine wood at their eco-friendly, wind-powered factory in Denmark. Their 4-in-1 Beds can transform into four different configurations, including a floor bed, house bed, mid-sleeper and single bed – so they will last your child ‘fall’ a long time!
