1. Feeling Blue

‘New York, the metal jungle where dreams are made of…’

As Alicia Keys *almost* sang it, our New York Metal Bed by Vipack is where dreams are made of. This fun and funky metal bed is available in a choice of colours, including Black, Yellow, Red, and this stylish denim Blue shade.

This means you can choose the perfect New York bed for your child, whatever they’re into. When they’re younger, you can accessorise with bright colours and fun bedding featuring their favourite TV characters.

As kids get older, up the ‘chic’ factor with monochrome bedding and festoon lights strung around the metal rails.

2. Vintage Charm

One of the best things about metal beds is their timelessness – which is a quality perfectly embodied by the Vipack Alice Metal Day Bed.

The day bed has railings on three sides, features beautiful, ornate scroll detailing, and is available in either a Black or White finish.

We recommend the Alice Metal Bed for kids of all ages. Younger ones will love the fairy-tale look, whilst teens can emphasise the ‘Parisian Chic’ angle, particularly with the Black version.

Try striped or floral-patterned bedding to bring out the vintage charm!

3. Four Poster Fun

What could be more chic than a four-poster bed? The Woood Dani Single Four Poster is the kind of bed where royalty could reside (or so we think!)

Four poster beds offer even more opportunities for customisation due to the frame. You could choose to add drapes, lighting, hanging storage, hanging plants – the list goes on.

It would also be easy to change up the decoration over the years to keep the look fresh. The handy space under the bed can be used to store any bedding or décor that’s not in use.

Dani’s headboard is made from painted pine, whilst the rest of the bed is crafted from powder-coated steel. The bed is also an absolute ‘steel’ itself, thanks to the affordable price tag – and the longevity offered by such a classic design!

4. Make It a Double!

Of course, if you’re choosing a metal bed for a teenager, you might want to think about opting for a double, to give them a little more room to stretch out.

If their room isn’t too spacious, a small double can be a good compromise. These are usually 120 cm wide, compared to a standard double which is 135 cm for a UK or 140 cm for a European size. Woood’s Black Metal Small Double Four Poster Bed is a European small double, so requires a mattress size of 120 x 200 cm.

If you can fit it in, this bed is an ideal choice for a tween or teen and will have greater longevity than a single. It also holds all the aforementioned benefits of a 4-poster bed, with rails to suspend lights and the option to hang drapes or a canopy.

The only problem we foresee is they’ll be even less likely to get out of bed before noon now…

5. Bronze Beauty

If you’ve got a lanky teen on your hands (as so many of them are!) then you might decide to go the whole hog and get them a double bed.

The Vipack Boston Double Metal Bed takes a European double mattress of 140 x 200 cm, which gives them plenty of space to starfish.

The bed is available in a choice of two finishes, White or Bronze, so you can choose the best one to suit their room. The Bronze colour is a particular favourite of ours – it’s perfect for adding a golden glow to your interior design.

This is a bed so chic that they’ll be happy to return to it once they’ve flown the nest – if you haven’t turned it into a super-stylish AirBnb that is!

6. Dreamy Day Bed

Finally, if you want a metal bed to see your child through their teenage years and into adulthood, we recommend this Vipack Bronxx Metal Day Bed.

This bed features a chunky metal frame, which makes it particularly sturdy and ready to withstand active sleepers.

The frame boasts a powder-coated black finish. In our experience, this look will work with most interior styles but is especially great in a modern or industrial-themed kid’s bedroom.

The day bed style means you can easily add cushions and repurpose the bed into a sofa during the day, or permanently once your (not-so-little!) one outgrows it. Wouldn’t it look fab in a chic urban loft?
