Our (not-so) famous blog series, meet the team is back! Where we introduce the newest members of our incredible team by putting them in the spotlight with our hilarious interview questions. From our favourite Cuckooland products to superhero powers and meeting Kate Moss, it’s time to get to know our awesome girls a little better! First up is the lovely Samantha from our Buying team.
SAMANTHA DAVIES, Buying Assistant
Hi Samantha, so firstly what is your favourite Cuckooland product and why?
SD: I’ve had my eye on the Luna Lounge Velvet Dog Bed by Laboni! I have a little Westie, and I think this will encourage her to stop jumping on my bed in the middle of the night!
Do you have a strange talent? Tell us about it!
SD: I can clap my hands ludicrously loud, but I don’t think that counts as a talent, it’s more of an annoyance. In talent terms, in my spare time I create children’s picture book illustrations and stories.
What is the worst gift you’ve ever received?
SD: Last Christmas, I received a gnome travel companion from my boyfriend. It has the most terrifying expression on its face. I now use it as a desk buddy instead. It haunts me, but we’re slowly getting acquainted with one another… his name is Gnorman.
If you were a fruit or vegetable, what would you be and why?
Definitely not a pea, I wish they didn’t exist. I’ve been told I look like a mushroom because of my ridiculous fringe, however I love strawberries, and my favourite colour is red, so I’ll go with a strawberry!
We have to agree Samantha that your hand clapping talent is very impressive and can be heard for miles!

Next up is Mya, from our fabulous Customer Service team who always has an impressive tea collection on her desk!
Mya, tell us, what is your favourite Cuckooland product and why?
ML: Ooo this is a tricky one, we sell so many amazing products!
I’m really not sure I could choose just one but I do love all the industrial style furniture, anything a little bit different and vintage is right up my street.
I’ve also been eyeing up the Jove Solid Fir Wood Cabinet With Antique Finish by Dutchbone and the Zuiver Tante Lien Rug, I think there’ll definitely be a few shopping sprees coming up soon!
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
ML: Another brain teaser! There are so many amazing superpowers that I would love to have! Invisibility is the obvious one, who wouldn’t want to be able to go around being mischievous for a day and have no one know it was you!? But I do believe I would most like to have the superpower to make everybody happy and well. It’s all about spreading positivity and love 😊
What is your claim to fame?
ML: The only real claim to fame I can think of is whilst Broadchurch was being filmed, literally 10 minutes down the road from where I lived at the time which is super cool in itself, I was out having dinner in one of the local restaurants and I ended up sitting a few tables away from the wonderful Scot that is David Tenant. To say I was a little star struck is a bit of an understatement!
If you were stranded on a desert island and you had to take one cuckooland employee with you, who would it be and why?
ML: I couldn’t possibly choose just one of the amazing Cuckooland team to take with me, so I’d probably opt to just kidnap all their dogs! We are quite the office of canine lovers and I couldn’t pick just one of those either. Can’t I just take everyone?!

Last but no means least is Chloe from our lovely Marketing team!
Chloe! What is your favourite Cuckooland product and why?
CH: I’d have to say the Lorena Canal rugs especially the Lobster style – it’s AMAZING! I love all the styles and they are the perfect addition to any room. I also love all the chairs from Dutchbone; especially the Tammy, Dolly and the Green Flower Lounge Chair – green velvet amazing-ness!
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
CH: It would have to be to fly – the opportunities and adventures would be endless!
If you were a fruit or vegetable, what would you be and why?
CH: Tricky question! I’d say an orange as I’m a redhead so it’s a great colour to match my hair! Or it would have to be a berry; strawberries, blueberries or raspberries – I love them all!
What is your claim to fame?
CH: I met Kate Moss on a photo shoot in my first job which was amazing! It was a very cool day and one that I’ll always remember 😊
