Meet the Cuckooland Team: Part 1…
Rachel, James and Hannah
Here at Cuckooland HQ, we’ve been thinking it’s about time you, our lovely customers, got to put some faces to the names (and discovered who else is frantically treading water behind the scenes!)
So, armed with only a camera, a box of props and a list of interview questions designed to produce hilarity, tears and inter-departmental feuds, we set up camp in the corridor and began picking off unsuspecting team members one by one.
Without further ado, here are the first three Cuckoolanders to make the mistake of wandering from their desks, in the first of our ‘Meet the Team’ posts!
RACHEL WOLSEY, Marketing Manager

Hi Rachel! No surprise to see you out here. Tell us, what’s your favourite Cuckooland product and why?
RW: It’s got to be the Smarter iKettle. I drink a zillion cups of tea and coffee a day, but I have absolutely no patience when it comes to waiting for the kettle to boil! Plus I’m late for everything, so this genius device helps save me some time in the morning. So smart!
Ha. Ha… So, what’s the worst gift you’ve ever received?
RW: In-car heater. For my birthday. In June. No further explanation required!
Nope! Moving on… If you were stranded on a desert island and you had to take one Cuckooland employee with you, who would it be and why?
RW: April. She’s vegetarian and less likely to eat me. Plus she’s quite fun to hang out with.
Aww! But seriously, come on now – give us something juicy. What’s the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done at Cuckooland HQ?
RW: In the early days we wore many hats at Cuckooland HQ, and during a very busy Christmas I “helped” answer the phones. Brace yourself! I placed an order for a very lovely lady, but completely misspelled her name: Virginia (can you see where I’m going here…?) Yes, I spelt it Vaginia. It was highly embarrassing when she phoned to check on her order and notify us of this mistake. Sorry Virginia…please forgive me! (That’s more like it!)
JAMES GIBSON, Customer Service

Hello James! Your turn. What’s your favourite Cuckooland product and why?
JG: It’s got to be the Deluxe Summerhouse Garden Pod, as I enjoy being outdoors and it’s the perfect man cave!
Good choice – we’ll take two. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
JG: Life, my children and my dog Doris.
Aww! You’re too nice. What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received? Don’t hold back now!
JG: Socks. One Christmas I asked for socks, I received about 20 – 25 pairs. Be careful what you ask for.
Good advice. And finally, if you were a fruit or vegetable, what would you be and why?
JG: A Grape – hard skin, soft centre (yep, we can vouch for this!)
HANNAH BINGHAM, Buyers Admin Assistant

Hi Hannah! What’s up? Can you tell us your favourite Cuckooland product?
HB: Definitely the Adventure Hang Out Bunk Bed by Lifetime – have you seen it?! I would have loved that as a kid.
Wouldn’t we all! If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
HB: A shapeshifter, so I could turn into anything I wanted. A bird to fly, a fish to breathe underwater, but mainly a dog, so I could hang out with all the other doggos.
It’s all about the doggos! How about if you were a fruit or vegetable – what would you be and why?
HB: A lime. Because I’m more fun with tequila.
Ha! Isn’t everyone? Lastly, if you were stranded on a desert island and had to take one Cuckooland employee with you, who would it be and why?
HB: Sam, because he’d probably annoy me so much that I would have no problem killing and eating him to survive. (Fair.)
Wow! Ok, so what have we learned from this? Well, Rachel doesn’t like to be too warm in the car, James will always have warm feet, and Hannah craves the warm fuzzy hug of tequila. Also, there seems to be an underlying fear of being eaten / having enough people to eat when stranded on desert islands among the Cuckooland team. Don’t worry guys, it’ll (probably!) never happen.
That’s all for now – look out for our next ‘Meet the Team’ coming soon, to find out more about what makes Cuckoolanders tick!
