Gaming Beds

Gaming beds are the latest addition to Cuckooland’s extensive range of cool kids beds. At first glance they may be mistaken for a regular high sleeper bed or loft bed, however, to the trained eye of an avid gamer, they provide the perfect blend of sleep station and gaming station.

Whether your young gaming enthusiast needs a bed with a desk large enough for two screens or wants to kick back on their under bed sofa while they build their futuristic dream house in Minecraft - we have all bases covered.

Gaming beds are space-saving beds, combining sleep space with plenty of storage that has been perfectly designed to accommodate screens, consoles and speakers. A gaming bed’s compact design means they will also fit in smaller bedrooms without consuming too much floor space. If you’re just looking for more of a storage bed, why not take a look at our cabin beds too - these multi-functional beds are bursting with adventure and are becoming increasingly popular amongst parents looking for both aesthetics and practicality.

Top 3 Gaming Beds FAQs

Before you entertain buying a gaming bed, here are a few FAQ’s that’ll help you decide if it’s the best bed for your child;

  1. What age is a gaming bed suitable for?

  2. Because all of our gaming beds are raised beds, with the bed being accessed by a ladder, we would recommend that they are suitable for children over the age of 6 years. A gaming bed makes the perfect teen bed due to the additional desk space that is often required in those teen years.

  3. Do gaming beds have space for a computer or TV screen?

  4. Our range of gaming beds all include desk space that can house a computer screen (some even fit multiple screens!) or a TV. However, you will need to make sure that you check the size of the desk space against the screen size for compatibility.

  5. How do I manage my child’s screen time if they have a gaming bed?

  6. Managing your child’s screen time can be tricky with or without a gaming bed! Whether your child is scrolling through their phone or playing on a games console, it’s important to instil clear boundaries in order to try and maintain a healthy balance of time on and off screen. A healthy sleep routine for your child will include coming off screens at least an hour before they plan to go to sleep. FYI - most devices and gaming consoles have settings where you can control the amount of screen time, so it’s always worth discussing this with the kids and then setting a few boundaries from the get-go. Tip: ‘We’ll agree to a gaming bed if you agree to ‘x’ amount of screen time per week, finishing no later than 8pm on a school night, and only after we have signed your homework book…’

While they come equipped with gaming-focused features, such as speakers and LED lighting, these features can typically be turned off or adjusted to suit sleeping preferences.

4. Are gaming beds suitable for children?

Gaming beds can be suitable for children who are avid gamers and would benefit from the integrated features designed to enhance the gaming experience. However, it's essential to consider factors such as safety, durability, and appropriateness for your child's age and preferences when choosing a gaming bed. Our guide, 'Are gaming beds good for my children' covers this in greater detail.

5. What should I look for when choosing a gaming bed?

When choosing a gaming bed, consider factors such as build quality, comfort, integrated features (such as speakers, charging ports, and lighting), compatibility with gaming setups (such as monitor mounts and cable management), and overall design aesthetic to ensure it meets your gaming and lifestyle needs.

6. Are gaming beds compatible with all gaming setups?

Yes, gaming beds are designed to accommodate a variety of gaming setups, including consoles, PCs, and gaming laptops. However, it's essential to check the bed's specifications and compatibility with your specific gaming equipment to ensure a seamless integration and optimal gaming experience. But generally, there really should not be a problem.

7. Can I customise a gaming bed with additional features?

Some gaming beds may offer customization options or modular features that allow you to add or upgrade components according to your preferences. Additionally, you can personalize the bed with accessories such as gaming-themed bedding, decorative pillows, and wall decals to create a customized gaming environment.

8. Are gaming beds easy to assemble?

The assembly process for gaming beds can vary depending on the manufacturer and model. Some gaming beds may require simple assembly with basic tools, while others may be more complex and require professional installation. 9. Are gaming beds bunk beds?

Gaming beds are not necessarily bunk beds by default. While bunk beds feature two or more beds stacked on top of each other, with each bed providing a sleeping space, gaming beds typically consist of a single elevated platform designed for gaming activities.

However, some gaming beds may offer bunk bed configurations as an option, where the elevated gaming platform is combined with an additional lower sleeping space. This configuration allows for multiple sleeping areas while still providing gaming-focused features on the elevated platform.

If you'd prefer a straight forward bunk bed, Cuckooland has a comprehensive collection of bunk bed designs to fit most rooms and budgets.

Are Gaming Beds Good for my Kids?

Having pros and cons of their own – our post is here to highlight why Cuckooland are Team Gaming Beds! With our expert advice, useful resources and top tips – your kids can sleep, rest, work and game – comfortably and safely.

And after you've decided to invest in a fabulous new Kids Bed, do you upgrade your childs gaming hardware? We're pretty sure they've been nagging, right? Is it better to to stick with what they've got or move to a PC or a Console? Here is just a short list of the pros and cons of each to hep you make a decision.

The Pro's and Con's of Gaming PC's vs Gaming Consoles.

PC's. Pros:

Customisability: One of the significant advantages of PC gaming is the ability to customise hardware components according to your child's gaming preferences and budget. You can upgrade individual components over time to keep up with the latest technology.

Multifunctional: A gaming PC can serve multiple purposes beyond gaming, such as homework, internet browsing, and multimedia entertainment. It's a versatile device that can grow with your child's interests and needs.

Wide Game Selection: PC gaming offers access to a vast library of game titles, including indie games, classic titles, and AAA releases. Digital distribution platforms like Steam provide a convenient way to discover and purchase games.

Modding Community: PC gaming has a vibrant modding community that allows players to customise games with user-generated content, modifications, and enhancements. This fosters creativity and adds replay value to games.

Cons:

Initial Cost: Gaming PCs can be more expensive upfront compared to consoles, especially if you're aiming for high-end hardware specifications. However, you can - with a little bit of help from Youtube - build a budget-friendly gaming PC or opt for pre-built systems with varying price points.

Complexity: PC gaming requires some technical knowledge, including understanding hardware specifications, driver updates, and troubleshooting issues. While there are resources available to help, it may be intimidating for less tech-savvy parents and children.

Console Gaming:

Pros:

Ease of Use: Consoles offer a straightforward plug-and-play experience, making them accessible for children and parents alike. There's no need to worry about hardware compatibility or software configurations.

Exclusive Titles: Each gaming console has its exclusive lineup of game titles, including popular franchises and exclusive releases. This can be a compelling factor if your child has specific games they want to play.

Social Experience: Consoles often emphasise multiplayer gaming and social features, allowing children to play with friends both online and offline. Many consoles offer parental controls to manage online interactions and screen time.

Affordability: Consoles are typically more affordable upfront compared to gaming PCs, especially considering the cost of high-end hardware components. Additionally, subscription services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now offer access to a vast library of games for a monthly fee.

Cons:

Limited Upgradeability: Unlike gaming PCs, consoles have limited upgrade options, as hardware specifications are fixed for each console generation. You'll need to purchase a new console to access the latest features and performance improvements.

Closed Ecosystem: Consoles are tied to their respective ecosystems, meaning you're limited to games and services available on that platform. There may be restrictions on game modifications, cross-platform compatibility, and software distribution.

Ultimately, the choice between a gaming PC and a console depends on factors such as your child's gaming preferences, budget, technical proficiency, and long-term investment considerations. Consider discussing options with your child and researching both platforms to make an informed decision that best suits your family's needs.
