Brand: Lomography. Designed in: Vienna, Austria.
Lomography came to being in 1984 in Russia when General Igor Petrowitsch Kornitzky, right-hand man to the USSR Minister of Defense and Industry, and his comrade, Michail Panfilowitsch Panfiloff began working on a little Japanese compact camera called the Cosina CX-1. They made some modifications and alterations and the Lomo LC-A camera was born! This little gem's popularity grew and grew, and very quickly began selling throughout Europe. In 1994, Lomography went online and soon conquered the global market, selling in the States and beyond. Lomography was becoming an iconic brand and a huge success story. When we stumbled across Lomography, we were seriously excited! Our eyes were opened to a world of experimental and creative photography which, quite frankly, we didn't understand at first! Fortunately, we were quickly enlightened and we were very relieved to discover that it's not complicated AT ALL! Each of their beautiful looking cameras functions in the same way as a traditional 'old-school' camera - you need an actual film! That's pretty much the only difference. So for all of you seasoned photographers out there, you will remember the wonderful days in your childhood of restricting your clicks to the very best of moments, the trip to the film developing shop and the trepidation felt waiting for your pictures to be revealed. There really is nothing quite like it. Perhaps a kind of magic that the digital age can never capture.
